JACKSON, Mich. — Jackson nonprofit Individuals for the Parks and Trails are purchasing bike racks for area parks.
Two bicycle racks will be installed at Ella Sharp Park at the playground and mini-golfing course, and a 3rd bicycle rack will be installed at Betsy Butterfield Park.
They will also pay for a trash can to be put in together the MLK Equality Trail by south Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive.
Simply because Folks for the Parks and Trails is a new nonprofit, they have been eligible to receive a $2,000 Communities in Motion grant from the Jackson Group Basis. Which is the money they are utilizing to supply the bicycle racks and trash can.
“We’re pretty grateful for these donations and inspired to see the ongoing operate of Individuals for the Parks,” Parks and Recreation Director Kelli Hoover said. “It is at times difficult for our office to fork out for more park features like bicycle racks and trash cans thanks to minimal means, so these little improvements will make a huge variation for the local community.”
The bicycle racks and trash can will be installed later on this summer months.
