If You Really

Is There Anything Really New To Learn About Putting?

Every once in a while something comes along that really makes an impression on you. Not only can it change the way you do a particular thing, but it can also make you reconsider other things you always assumed were true.

I’ve been playing golf now for over 25 years, and people in general have been playing it for hundreds of years. I thought everything that could be learned about the game was already known. I was wrong.

For the last several years, I have suffered from a chronic case of the yips. After having been through all of the grips, long putters, and numerous putting training aids, I had pretty much given up.

I would just pick up all of my three footers so I didn’t have to embarrass myself. I didn’t seem to have any trouble from about 10 feet and more away, and I could still hit the ball pretty darn good.

Then, one day about a month ago, that something came along. I stumbled across a book on the internet. I read the sales page and was a little interested.

He promised something new and different that worked instantly. I didn’t believe it, so I went on about my business. It wasn’t til a week later that I stumbled across the same page again.

I was going to play the next day and decided to give it a try. After all, the ad promised instant results so I could test it right away. I ordered the book, downloaded it and read it in about 30 minutes.

I then got my putter out and hit a few putts using what I had learned. It seemed that every putt was starting on line and there were no signs of the yips. But there was no hole on my bedroom floor either.

I was very excited the next day. I think it was the first time I have even been excited about hitting a five foot putt! I got to the practice green and gave the new method a shot.

I made 10 three footers in a row!!! But I wasn’t on the course yet. Any clown can sink a putt on the practice green. I couldn’t wait to get to the first green.

As luck would have it, I ended up with tap ins on the first five holes! But on the sixth hole, I had a pretty straight, uphill five footer for par. These had been my worst nightmare.

I lined everything up and hit it. It started and ended dead center! The rest of the day went pretty good too. Out of 7 total putts from 8 feet or less, I made four of them. That’s four more than I would have made had I not gotten that book.

As I continue to use the method, it gets even better. I now look forward to the challenge of putting from shorter distances, since I am having some success.

I am still not putting like a tour pro, and I miss about 1 in 4 from five feet, it’s a far cry from having to pick the ball up just to keep my sanity.

If you are having similar problems with your putting, you really should get this book. It’s called Target Putting. It’s only about $23, way less than a lesson.

The book is not very long. About twenty pages. And it doesn’t have any pictures in it, but it really doesn’t need them. My success tells me the point has reached home.

But what you will learn in Target Putting is that some things you just always assumed were true or right about putting aren’t right at all. There is something new to learn about putting.
