Mercedes-Benz C-Class Review (2022) | Autocar

The W206-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Course is a transitional car for just one of the world’s founding car makers, and nevertheless it stays singularly vital. It will be the 1st C-Class not to offer you multi-cylinder combustion engines, for example, but also one particular of the past new Mercedes models of any collection not to be engineered for all-electric electrical power.

Unnecessary to say, that does not suggest it will not be ‘electrified’. In reality, Stuttgart is aiming to catch the attention of particular interest, and win some essential European fleet enterprise, with the 1st of two C-Class plug-in hybrid designs that it will offer you. A diesel-electric PHEV will follow later, but for now, tax-acutely aware firm motorists are tempted with the issue of this week’s highway test: the new C300e.

This car or truck fits into a Uk design range at a level that tends to make it pricier than some derivatives, but evidently no range-topping halo product. Its mechanical make-up, which we will discover shortly, will be common to current C300e homeowners.

There is a 2.-litre turbocharged petrol engine in the entrance of the car or truck coupled with a usefully impressive electric powered push motor upstream of the gearbox and, just as ahead of, a generate battery is positioned underneath the boot flooring. But it is the vitality density of this battery that guarantees the transformative leap here, which arrives in a package deal that is plainly technologically superior in some approaches but could possibly also characterize Mercedes at its laid-back standard most effective in other respects.
