Metro transit and Heartland Bike Share are partnering to bring 14 new bike share stations and 100 new e-bikes to ORBT bus stations.

The new stations will property a full of 100 electric pedal-support bikes, or “e-bikes,” which can journey up to 17 mph with very little assistance from the rider. Associates for Metro and Heartland Bicycle Share hope that this will make it possible for ORBT riders much easier entry to surrounding neighborhoods this sort of as Dundee, Aksarben, Benson and North Omaha.

“These new bike share stations will offer critical 1st- and past-mile connections for ORBT riders, enhancing connections involving ORBT stations and the surrounding neighborhoods,” stated Lauren Cencic, CEO of Metro transit.

For instance: An ORBT rider could get off at the 49th and Dodge cease, verify out a bike and dock it at a bicycle share place in Aksarben or Benson. Extra than 70 bicycle share spots are established up throughout the town, with quite a few concentrated in central and downtown Omaha.
